Governor Hochul says there’s agreement on a 268-billion-dollar spending plan, but legislative leaders say key issues still need to be finalized, including education funding, healthcare spending, and aid for New York City. The state budget deadline was April 1st.Meanwhile, drivers across New York are continuing to feel the pain at the gas pump. Triple A says the statewide average for a gallon of regular fuel is now four-58, up sharply over the past month and nearly a dollar-50 higher than this time last year. In the Capital Region, prices are averaging four-54 a gallon.In Central New York, the man accused of shooting several Syracuse police officers over the weekend remains jailed. Authorities say Rodney Vanderpool opened fire after officers responded to reports of a man with a machete at the Pioneer Homes housing complex. Two officers were shot and a third was injured during the incident, but all are expected to recover. Vanderpool surrendered after an hours-long standoff, and his attorney says mental health issues may have played a role.Parents are being warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence after an explicit AI-generated image circulated within the Fayetteville-Manlius school community. District officials say the image was created and shared off school grounds, but they’re urging families to speak with students about the legal and emotional consequences of creating or distributing fake explicit content.In the Hudson Valley, New York State is announcing how Catskill will use 10-million dollars in Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding.
